About us
Our Story
Take Root Bio began with a challenge from the European Space Agency:
How can humans grow a complete diet inside a closed-loop biosphere in space?
This challenge sparked the foundation of Take Root Bio.
Today, we apply biosphere engineering principles to Earth’s most urgent needs — food insecurity, climate resilience, and community regeneration.
Our modular systems integrate AI, carbon and nutrient sensors, water recycling, circular energy loops, and digital twins to grow food anywhere on Earth — while advancing pathways for future off-world agricultural systems.
Our Mission
To pioneer space agriculture technologies that strengthen life on Earth while advancing the knowledge required for long-term human presence beyond our planet.
Our Network
We collaborate with leading organisations, including:
UK Space Agency (digital twin development)
Innovate UK (ADOPT programme)
EIT Food (delivery partner)
Net Zero Cities
University of Guelph (Canada)
ESA and EIC AI communities
